Job summary

Expeditors is seeking a proactive Sales Trainee in Salt Lake City to combine operations immersion with outbound prospecting. You will learn shipping, customs, and product flows during a 6–12 month immersion, then increasingly drive meetings for District Sales Executives.

The program progresses toward independent qualification of opportunities and meeting setting, supporting growth of clients in the Salt Lake City market. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma, or equivalent experience.
• IATA Cargo Introductory Diploma and Licensed Customs Broker are desired.
• Dangerous Goods certification (Air/Ground, Ocean, or Import).
• Strong communication and prospecting skills.
• Comfort with high-volume phone and email outreach.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Complete a 6–12 month operations immersion across core products and services.
• Split time between operations and sales development as directed by the District Sales Manager.
• Learn the full shipment lifecycle end-to-end: booking, docs, routing, carrier coordination, clearance, delivery.
• Support operations during peak periods as directed.
• Use operations knowledge in prospect conversations, lead qualification, and meeting prep.
• Secure discovery meetings for District Sales Executives and leadership.
• Prepare account research briefs before customer meetings and join meetings to learn consultative sales.
• Maintain CRM with contacts, activities, leads, and opportunities.
