Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking a trainee for the Outside Sales Representative path in Gunnison, CO. This role trains across yard operations, production, dispatch, and inside sales, with progression to the OSR I role in about 90 - 180 days.

You will shadow Outside Sales Reps, assist with orders, take-offs, and customer calls while developing sales skills, product knowledge, and safety practices in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or related field plus 0 - 2 years related industry operations/sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong customer service skills both face-to-face and telephone
• Previous selling experience helpful
• Good mathematical aptitude
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Solid interpersonal skills, including tact and influencing, with internal and external contacts
• Good computer aptitude, particularly with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ERP applications

Responsibilities

• Receives training across yard operations, production, dispatch, scheduling, delivery, and inside sales.
• Accompanies Outside Sales Reps or Sales Manager on customer calls.
• Handles inside sales/counter duties, including answering phone and taking orders.
• Performs outside sales responsibilities such as take-offs and processing orders.
• Sets performance goals and tracks progress with management and trainers.
• Completes assigned sales training programs.
• Follows safety procedures and helps improve safety practices.
• Other duties may be assigned.
