Job summary

Builders FirstSource is launching an Outside Sales Trainee program in Spearfish, SD. You will rotate through departments to learn the industry, processes, and sales techniques while preparing for an Outside Sales Representative role.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in sales/marketing or related fields and have 0–2 years of related experience. Strong customer service and communication skills are valued. This program emphasizes learning and safety throughout training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Marketing or related field (or equivalent).
• 0–2 years related industry operations/sales experience or equivalent.
• No sales commissions during trainee period.

Responsibilities

• Receives training and performs progressively responsible duties in various areas such as yard operations, production, dispatch/delivery, and inside sales while learning the outside sales role.
• Accompanies Outside Sales Reps or Sales Manager on customer calls to learn sales and customer service techniques.
• Handles inside sales/counter duties: answering phones, taking orders, and related tasks.
• Performs Outside Sales tasks: take-offs, order processing, obtaining signatures, and making sales calls to new/existing customers.
• Sets personal performance goals and tracks progress with management and trainers.
• Participates in and completes assigned sales training programs.
• Follows safety procedures and helps others observe safety practices.
