Position: Sales Specialist- Healthcare & Specialty Gas

Travel percentage: 60%-80% within territory

The Healthcare Sales Specialist sells medical gases, products, and services to healthcare and life science establishments within a specific geographic area. They serve as a subject matter expert to both internal and external customers. The Sales Specialist is responsible for developing and executing regional marketing plans for medical and specialty gases and supporting the region in this capacity.

  • Responsible for increasing sales and profit margins by presenting Airgas’s various medical product lines and specialty gases to prospects and existing customers, explaining and demonstrating products and services to provide tailored solutions.
  • Develops and implements customer-specific marketing plans based on product type and usage volume, considering industry and trade factors.
  • Prepares sales proposals and contracts by quoting pricing, credit terms, and estimated delivery dates based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules.
  • Acts as a resource for other sales professionals, providing product and industry training, customer presentations, and recommendations.
  • Monitors competition through research and marketplace information gathering on products, delivery, merchandising, and strategies.
  • Resolves customer concerns by investigating issues, developing solutions, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintains and updates CRM and results reports, including weekly work plans and territory analyses.
  • Recommends improvements in processes, procedures, and products by assessing results and staying informed on market developments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or up to 4 years of additional sales experience in lieu of degree.
  • At least 3 years of solution-driven sales experience, preferably in industrial and medical gases.
  • Relationship management and consultative selling skills with problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to target accounts and achieve results through strategic sales processes.
  • Effective relationship-building skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and understanding of financial principles such as margin and profit.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective listener.
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and manage projects.
  • Proficiency in Google applications and SAP.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Frequent regional travel (up to 60%).
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and insurance.
  • Willingness to visit various sites with varying environments and conditions, including loud noises and odors.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 60 pounds, and operate a computer, telephone, and vehicle.
Salary Range

$70,000 - $80,000 plus commission
