IKEA Auburn Hills at Great Lakes Crossing Mall is hiring for an hourly Retail Sales role. The job emphasizes guidance on layout, color, and accessories for homes and offices, plus selling kitchen and bath solutions and related services.

Responsibilities include measuring and planning to ensure accurate orders, driving repeat visits, leading daily store operations, and maintaining safety and compliance with internal controls. Benefits are offered for eligible associates.

Qualifications

• Previous retail selling experience.
• Experience in a consultative sales environment.
• Experience leading change initiatives and building new programs in a retail space environment.
• Experience in designing kitchen and bath preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on layout, color, style and accessories for residential and business customers.
• Sell specialized home furnishing solutions such as kitchens, bath, storage systems and services.
• Create relationships with customers to identify needs and offer support before, during and after sales.
• Apply basic measurement techniques and planning/design knowledge to ensure orders are correct and to spec.
• Drive repeat visits by keeping the sales team customer-centric and focused on a great shopping/branding experience.
• Oversee day-to-day operations when assigned, including opening/closing duties.
• Ensure a safe and secure work environment, handling escalated issues and safety protocols.
• Partner with Safety & Security to ensure adherence to policies, audits, and internal controls.
• Ensure implementation of working routines and follow-up of Commercial Review and Compliance (ASR).
• Perform CMP goods flow and customer handout operations with data accuracy.

What you'll be doing day to day

• Use your knowledge of interior design to provide guidance on layout, color, style and accessories for residential and business customers who need advice on how to decorate their homes, offices, or businesses.
• Utilize specialized knowledge and training to sell specialized home furnishing solutions, such as kitchens, bath, storage systems, and services.
• Create relationships with customers to identify customer needs and provide support before, during and after the sales.
• Apply basic measurement techniques and understanding of planning, design, and construction to ensure customer orders are correct and to specification.
• Drive repeat visitation to the IKEA stores by ensuring the sales team is customer-centric and is focused on providing a great shopping and branding experience.
• Oversee day-to-day operations when assigned, including opening and/or closing duties for the store.
• Responsible for a safe and secure work environment, including but not limited to escalated customer issues, customer and co-worker injuries, first aid/CPR/AED, and emergency protocols.
• Partner with Safety & Security to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and audits regarding inventory integrity, safety, cash, credit, and check handling procedures, internal controls and internal audit standards.
• Ensure implementation of working routines, competence development and follow-up of Commercial Review and Compliance (ASR) related to the role and functions.
• Perform CMP goods flow and customer handout operations efficiently using available systems and tools to ensure smooth processes and data accuracy.

JOB TYPE: Perm, Full Time 20-34hrs/week

HOURS: Hourly role. Retail environment, must have open availability Monday through Sunday. Typical shift 10:30am-7pm subject to change.

The pay for this role is $21.92 to $30.97

The starting rate/ salary for this position ranges from 21.92 USD to 30.97 USD and will be based on relevant work experience.
