Job Title: Sales Manager, Functional Materials
Summary
The Sales Manager will drive sales for Vital Materials' Functional Materials division, focusing on metals such as Bismuth, Selenium, Tellurium, Cadmium, Cobalt, Indium, and Antimony in the US territory. These materials include ingots, powders, liquids, oxides, and more.
Responsibilities
- Maintain current key contacts and develop new business within the assigned region/market segment.
- Manage sales and customer service through visits and trials.
- Collaborate with customer service, R&D, technology, and sales teams.
- Maintain customer database and call reports.
- Prepare sales forecasts and gather market intelligence.
- Attend regional and trade shows.
- Achieve sales volume, revenue, and margin targets.
- Develop and execute a territory growth plan, utilizing CRM tools.
- Provide regular activity reports and collaborate across departments to meet company and customer goals.
- Participate in industry events and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Plan travel, manage expenses, and balance administrative and project tasks.
- Update forecasts, contracts, and agreements.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration internally and externally.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years in sales of chemicals, metals, or related industries, with a proven track record.
- Experience with consultative sales and working with technical teams.
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel 25-50%.
- Strong communication skills across organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems like Salesforce.
- Technical chemistry experience is a plus.
- Ability to work remotely, solve problems independently, and collaborate effectively.
- Perseverance and motivation for long-term sales growth.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Business, Marketing, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
Location & Travel
Options in Cupertino, CA; Bowling Green, OH; Naperville, IL; or remote. Up to 50% domestic and international travel required.
