Job summary

NorthStar Supply LLC in Palmer, Alaska is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to take ownership of an established customer base and drive growth from inquiry to close. You will be the primary sales contact for contractors, government and commercial customers, both in the office and in the field.

The role includes building relationships, quoting, negotiating within guidelines, visiting sites across Alaska, and coordinating with operations on product availability and delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
• Ability to manage an existing book of customers while pursuing new business.
• Willingness to travel within Alaska with a valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: experience in construction materials or related industry (training provided).

NorthStar Supply is looking for an experienced salesperson to take ownership of an established customer base and help us build the next stage of our growth. NorthStar is an established Alaska supplier with a strong customer base across the construction industry. We are looking for someone who can step into the business, build strong relationships with our customers, own the sales process and find opportunities to grow.

THE ROLE

As Sales Manager, you will become the primary sales contact for NorthStar’s customers and own the day-to-day sales process from inquiry through close.

• Manage and grow an established book of contractor, government and commercial customers.
• Handle customer calls, quote requests and sales opportunities, and follow each one through to completion.
• Prepare quotes and negotiate pricing within established guidelines.
• Build relationships with existing customers, earn more of their business and proactively pursue new contractors and customers.
• Track upcoming construction projects and public bid opportunities, review plans and specifications, take off material quantities and quote the contractors bidding each job.
• Visit customers, prospects and job sites throughout Alaska, and represent NorthStar at industry events.
• Work with operations on product availability, lead times and delivery.
• Maintain customer, quote and pipeline activity.
• Develop new markets and larger business opportunities as the role grows.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required

• Strong relationship-building, communication and follow-through.
• Ability to manage an existing book while continuing to pursue new business.
• Comfortable working both in the office and in the field, with a valid driver’s license and the ability to do some travel within Alaska.

Preferred

• Construction materials, industrial distribution, civil construction or related experience.
• Plan reading, quantity takeoff or public bidding experience. We will train the right person.
• Existing relationships with Alaska contractors.
• Experience with a CRM or ERP system.
