Job description

Lead a territory. Develop a high-performing team. Drive profitable growth.

Are you an experienced sales leader who knows how to turn market insight, strong customer relationships, and focused coaching into results? This role offers the opportunity to lead an assigned territory, guide a team of Sales Representatives, and shape strategies that increase market penetration, profitability, and long-term customer value.

Why This Role Matters

As Sales Manager, you will own the performance of an assigned sales territory and lead the people, plans, and customer strategies that support sustainable growth. You will balance team leadership with hands‑on customer engagement, using sales data, competitive insight, and cross‑functional collaboration to identify opportunities and improve results.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and direct sales activity across an assigned territory to achieve sales volume, market penetration, profitability, and growth objectives.
  • Recruit, train, coach, advise, and motivate Sales Representatives while setting clear work standards, expectations, territories, quotas, and goals.
  • Evaluate team performance, address day‑to‑day challenges, and take appropriate corrective or personnel action when needed.
  • Join Sales Representatives on customer calls and personally support major accounts and high‑value prospects.
  • Analyze sales performance, customer preferences, market trends, competitive activity, and inventory needs to identify opportunities and recommend action.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, quotas, profitability projections, and other required business reports.
  • Manage assigned product lines, including product development, vendor interaction, performance monitoring, and customer feedback.
  • Partner with internal departments to understand equipment and customer specifications and support successful product or service delivery.
  • Advise prospective customers on equipment needs and recommend solutions that align with their requirements.
  • Resolve complex customer concerns involving pricing, quotes, costing, concessions, scheduling, orders, credit issues, sales, or service.
  • Manage territory expenses, including travel and entertainment, and approve budget expenditures within assigned authority.
  • Represent the company at trade association meetings and communicate relevant economic, competitive, and territory developments to senior management.
  • Conduct sales and informational meetings and ensure all business is handled ethically and professionally.
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or GED and 4 to 10 years of related experience.
  • Technical background working with generators, engines, or related industrial equipment, with the knowledge to discuss equipment‑specific maintenance and repair recommendations confidently with customers.
  • Proven ability to organize and manage your own work while effectively supervising and developing others.
  • Strong sales leadership, decision‑making, problem‑solving, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with customers, team members, and cross‑functional partners.
  • Confident public presentation skills and clear, concise written and verbal communication.
  • A proactive, customer‑focused approach with the judgment to follow company procedures while resolving issues.
  • Self‑motivation, initiative, integrity, and the confidence to move work forward or advocate for a well‑supported position.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
