Sales Manager – Industrial Machinery / Machine Tools
Location: Bloomfield, CT
Salary: $80,000–$100,000(negotiable for experienced candidate) and commission
Travel: Up to 50–75%
Position Summary
A well-established industrial equipment company is seeking a Sales Manager to drive new business development and expand existing customer relationships throughout the Northeast.
This is a hands-on sales leadership role combining individual business development with leadership and support of sales personnel and distribution partners. The position focuses on industrial machinery, machine tools, automation equipment, inspection systems, and related manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute territory sales strategies to achieve revenue, profit, and growth objectives.
- Generate new business through prospecting, cold calling, customer visits, networking, trade shows, and referrals.
- Manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification and qualification through proposals, presentations, negotiation, closing, and follow-up.
- Develop and expand relationships with customers, distributors, vendors, manufacturers, and other business partners.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide regular forecasts and activity reports.
- Monitor customer needs, competitors, market conditions, and industry trends to identify new opportunities.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to sales personnel and distribution partners.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, trade shows, industry events, and other business-development activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of successful B2B outside sales experience, preferably involving industrial machinery, machine tools, manufacturing equipment, or other technical products.
- Proven success achieving sales targets and developing new business.
- Experience managing customer, distributor, vendor, or other business relationships.
- Sales leadership or management experience preferred.
- Experience with machine tools, CNC, industrial machinery, capital equipment, manufacturing equipment, or automation is required
- Strong prospecting, presentation, negotiation, closing, and account-management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, Marketing, or a related field preferred; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
