The Sales Manager at Elon Tile & Stone is responsible for leading the sales team, driving revenue growth, and expanding the company’s presence within the tile and stone market. This role involves setting and achieving sales targets, implementing strategic sales initiatives, developing client relationships, and ensuring smooth sales operations through effective team management and collaboration with internal departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a team of nine sales representatives, ensuring they have the skills and resources to meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Set clear sales targets and quotas for both individual team members and the overall team.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and structured training programs to develop sales skills and improve effectiveness.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, identifying strengths, areas for improvement, and necessary adjustments to achieve optimal results.
  • Motivate the team through leadership, guidance, and incentives to drive high performance.
  • Train and support Elon outside sales representatives and internal staff on programs, products, and market strategies to improve customer engagement.
  • Develop training guides, presentations, and demonstrations for internal staff and external customers to encourage the adoption of new tools and sales techniques.
  • Act as an internal advisor on company-wide initiatives, business processes, and problem-solving to support sales and operational efficiency.
  • Define and communicate objectives clearly, regularly measuring sales representatives’ performance against set goals.

Sales Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to align with company objectives and maximize growth opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by analyzing market trends, industry changes, and customer demands.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about competitors, emerging trends, and shifts in customer preferences.
  • Maintain a strong CRM system to track sales activities, client interactions, and opportunities for business expansion.
  • Develop sales strategies for assigned territories, ensuring a proactive approach to market penetration.
  • Establish relationships with key decision-makers in client companies to drive sales growth.
  • Manage the product sales mix to optimize sales, maximize profitability, and reduce competition in key markets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, purchasing, and customer service, to align business priorities, streamline processes, and support sales initiatives.
  • Work closely with developers, integration teams, and customer support to design, implement, and enhance sales-related technology platforms.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including architects, interior designers, builders, contractors, and distributors, ensuring a high level of engagement and customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate contracts, close deals, and manage client expectations to foster long-term business relationships.
  • Address client inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
  • Conduct site visits for large-scale projects as needed, providing hands-on sales support and consultation.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing department and suppliers to develop competitive pricing strategies for custom orders.
  • Actively seek and onboard new customers through regular sales calls and in-person visits while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of Elon Tile & Stone’s products and sustainability initiatives to communicate value to customers effectively.
  • Establish Elon Tile & Stone as a preferred supplier among key accounts, including builders, dealers, and contract installers.
  • Oversee the sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and tracking of sales activities.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present sales reports to company leadership to track performance, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry trends, product developments, and market conditions to adapt sales strategies accordingly.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to represent Elon Tile & Stone and expand business prospects.
  • Provide regular competitive analysis and insights on regional product demand to the President and executive team.

Other Duties:

  • Participate in product development and marketing efforts as needed to align sales strategies with product offerings.
  • Manage budgets and expenses related to sales operations, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
  • Travel as required to meet with clients, visit job sites, and attend industry events, maintaining a strong presence in the market.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred.

·Proven experience in sales management, preferably in the tile, marble, granite or interior design or building materials industry.

Skills:

·Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

·Excellent negotiation and closing skills.

·Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

·Proficiency in CRM software and other sales tools.

·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·Knowledge of the tile industry and its products.

Other:

·Must be able to handle project liaison and coordination activities.

·Must have relevant market exposure with a good performance track record.
