Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Sales Department Manager in the United States, California, San Jose.

This role leads a sales team on the floor, drives sales through directive selling, and mentors staff to deliver exceptional customer experiences. You will assist the department manager in achieving volume and productivity goals, manage merchandising standards, and build lasting customer relationships while maintaining inventory integrity.

Qualifications

• Track record of successful results in sales
• Competitive drive and entrepreneurial confidence in a commission-based environment
• Ability to set and achieve sales goals
• Experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with department and store managers and other leaders
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, develop and motivate your team – their success is your success
• Assist in achieving department volume and productivity goals by developing and executing a business plan
• Ensure salespeople deliver outstanding customer service by teaching, coaching and leading by example
• Work with the department manager to ensure merchandising and presentation standards are met
• Build long lasting relationships and create a loyal customer following by actively selling on the floor
• Assist in ensuring accurate inventory management and shrinkage goals are met
