Job summary

SMS group Inc. is seeking a Sales and Service Engineer to drive our service business by outlining the scope of work, estimating costs, and developing project schedules.

You will perform on-site services to tune combustion systems and furnace components, and you will act as the main customer contact during proposals and service phases. Travel will be extensive as you engage with customers at their sites and participate in vendor workshops, contributing to retrofit opportunities and the

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on aptitude with combustion equipment and controls.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently or in a team.
• Engineering Technician or Bachelor of Science in Engineering; understanding of NFPA safety code preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defines the service scope of work and compiles quotes from man-hour estimates and tools costs for final quotation.
• Develops project schedules and estimates costs for service projects.
• Performs on-site tuning of combustion systems and furnace components.
• Acts as the first line of contact within the customer facility to identify retrofit and new equipment opportunities.
• Assists in commissioning of new equipment.
• Extensive travel to customer sites and vendor workshops is required.

About this position

Summary

The Sales and Service Engineer is responsible for the development of SMS’s service business including compiling the scope of work, estimating associated costs, and developing project schedules. Additional responsibilities include on site services to tune combustion systems and furnace mechanical components.

• Works as a point of contact with the customer in the proposal / quoting / services sales phase of the project to identify customer needs.
• Develops the service scope of work. Compiles quotes from man-hour estimates and tools costs and transfers this into a final quotation format as presented to the customer.
• Develop a familiarity with furnace equipment so as to respond to customer maintenance needs. Perform service on equipment such as reheat furnaces, annealing furnaces, burners, fans, heat exchangers, and convective coolers.
• Act as first line of contact within the customer facility to identify retrofit and new equipment opportunities.
• Assist in commissioning of new equipment.
• Extensive Travel is required.

What you'll need
