The ideal candidate has a physics or mechanical engineering background, hands‑on lab experience, and strong communication skills. Travel to customer sites and trade shows is required to support the sales process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a mechanical engineering, physics or related technical field.
  • 1-5 years of relevant lab, R&D, applications engineering, or technical sales experience.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience designing and executing experiments and interpreting data.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical engineering and/or physics fundamentals (materials, thermodynamics, mechanics, instrumentation).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the sales team to translate customer requirements into technical solutions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, lab evaluations, and technical presentations for prospective customers.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support, respond to RFPs/RFQs, and prepare technical proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and R&D to relay customer feedback for development.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during evaluation, installation, or post-sale.

Advanced Research Systems sells scientific equipment (cryostats) to universities and government labs, primarily in physics, materials science, and electrical engineering departments.We are seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused Sales Engineer to serve as a bridge between our customers and internal engineering and production teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics or mechanical engineering, along with hands‑on laboratory and experimental experience. In this role, you will work with customers to understand their technical requirements, demonstrate product capabilities, provide technical guidance, develop tailored solutions, and support the sales process from the initial inquiry through delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the sales team to understand customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and hands‑on lab evaluations for prospective customers.
  • Provide pre‑sales technical support, including responding to RFPs/RFQs and preparing technical proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and R&D teams to relay customer feedback for product development.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues raised by customers during evaluation or post‑sale implementation.
  • Develop technical documentation, application notes, and best practice guides to support the sales process.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies relevant to the customer base.
  • Travel to customer sites, trade shows, and conferences as needed to support sales efforts.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical field.
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in a lab, R&D, applications engineering, or technical sales role.

  • Willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Prior experience in sales engineering, applications engineering, or field engineering role.
  • Familiarity with various characterization techniques, laboratory instrumentation,
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and technical proposal development.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability
  • Organized, self‑motivated work style
  • Materials Research Technology is a plus
  • Digital Media Marketing knowledge
