Job description

This is a unique opportunity to become the face of a highly respected, family-owned manufacturing company with more than 130 years of industry experience. You’ll have the opportunity to make a large impact while working directly with customers across North America to solve complex process and equipment challenges.

This role blends technical sales, account management, and business development. You’ll work with established customers and warm opportunities while developing new relationships across the coatings, paint, chemical, and industrial manufacturing industries.

You’ll also have the opportunity to train directly alongside the current sales leader, who is retiring, gaining valuable knowledge of the products, customers, and sales process before taking ownership of the territory.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing customers.
  • Follow up on inbound leads, referrals, and customer inquiries.
  • Develop new business through phone, email, networking, and industry relationships.
  • Identify customer process challenges and recommend customized equipment solutions.
  • Work directly with Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers, Process Engineers, Operations Leaders, and other industrial customers.
  • Develop proposals and pricing for custom process equipment.
  • Track opportunities and customer activity through CRM tools.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure solutions meet customer requirements.
  • Manage longer sales cycles, typically 6–12 months, from initial conversation through order.
  • Build relationships that generate repeat business and long-term customer partnerships.
What You’ll Bring
  • 2–3+ years of experience in technical sales, inside sales, account management, business development, customer service, applications engineering, or service within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience selling, quoting, servicing, supporting, or recommending technical products, industrial equipment, OEM equipment, custom machinery, engineered products, or process solutions.
  • Ability to connect comfortably with hands‑on, industrial customers and build relationships across different levels of an organization.
  • A naturally curious, proactive sales approach with strong follow-through.
  • Persistence and patience to manage complex, custom equipment sales with longer sales cycles.
  • Strong communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and experience with ERP/pricing or CRM systems.

Bonus:

Engineering or chemistry experience, or familiarity with coatings, paint, chemicals, pigment grinding, solvent recovery, or other process‑driven OEM equipment.

  • 2.5% commission on equipment sales once orders ship.
  • Quarterly bonus opportunity tied to sales performance.
  • Year 1 OTE: $65–75K
  • Year 2 OTE: $80–95K
  • Up to 25% travel, primarily local and domestic, with most trips lasting no more than 3 days.
  • 5% 401(k) match.
  • 9 paid holidays.
  • Holiday bonus.
  • Full benefits
  • Travel: Up to 25% throughout North America
Why Consider This Role?
  • Be the face of a company with more than 130 years of history and an excellent reputation.
  • Make a significant impact on the continued growth of an established business.
  • Inherit a strong customer base and benefit from warm business opportunities, rather than relying exclusively on cold prospecting.
  • Receive hands‑on training from an experienced sales leader before taking ownership of the business.
  • Join a fourth-generation, family‑owned company known for its down‑to‑earth culture, open‑door environment, and strong relationships.
  • Sell highly customized equipment that allows you to solve real‑world challenges for industrial customers.
