Job summary

Ryerson Canada in Columbus, OH is seeking a Sales Engineer to engage customers by phone and email, collaborating with internal and external partners to tailor metal product solutions and support long-term partnerships.

You will interpret drawings and specifications, apply tolerance and material knowledge, estimate pricing, propose contract terms, and help ensure quality and timely delivery across the supply chain, using CAD/Drafting and SAP as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years of sales experience in the metal industry.
• Print reading required; CAD or drafting experience a plus.
• Experience with SAP is highly preferred.
• MS Office skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience in sales or customer service is an asset.
• Working knowledge of geometry, strong math skills, and a technical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and qualify customer-provided documents such as prints, CAD files, and specifications.
• Full understanding of tolerances, materials, specifications, and processing options that will guide a robust metal supply chain creation.
• Manage part specific supply chains by utilizing internal and external processing assets to meet customer quality and delivery requirements.
• Estimate material, labor, and delivery options on a part-level basis and develop contract pricing templates based on awarded work.
• Evaluating sales proposals to ensure they are technically accurate and consistent with the organization’s quality standards.
• Conducting technical analysis of product configurations to determine customer-specific prices.
• All other duties as assigned.
