Job Title: Outside Sales Engineer

Kodru-Mooney professionally represents top-tier flow control manufacturers in the water and wastewater industry, providing engineered and application-sensitive solutions designed to preserve our most valuable resource.

As an Outside Sales Engineer, you will take ownership of the entire sales cycle, focusing on developing new business within an assigned territory, as well as retaining and expanding existing customer relationships. You will help clients optimize system performance using existing or new valve & actuation technologies.

This is a remote position based in Chicago, IL.

What You Will Do:
  • Prospect, develop, and close new business with both new and existing customers.
  • Meet or exceed annual sales targets within your assigned territory and accounts.
  • Travel regularly to perform customer consultations, determine needs, provide solutions, and gather detailed information for estimates and proposals.
  • Manage turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other customer projects to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain in-depth industry knowledge of water and wastewater sectors and the products represented by the company.
  • Utilize QuickBase (CRM) for all prospecting and customer activities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining product and service functionalities.
  • Collaborate with customers and engineers to ensure equipment meets system requirements.
  • Communicate with the sales team to understand customer demands and provide sales support as needed.
  • Secure orders, ensure product standards, and guarantee delivery.
  • Build customer rapport and foster acceptance.
  • Plan modifications to products to meet customer needs.
  • Assist clients in resolving product usage problems.
  • Recommend new and improved products, explaining cost benefits to customers.
Background/Experience:
  • At least 4 years of experience in manufactured equipment sales, including working with consulting engineers and end users.
  • Willing to travel primarily within Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
  • Degree in Engineering preferred, or relevant experience in water/wastewater sectors.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Results-oriented with effective closing abilities.
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude.
  • Experience with CRM software.
  • Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance.
