The Director of Sales will have accountability for driving sales in the region, developing and delivering sales goals. The candidate will work with various internal teams and stakeholders to formulate sales strategies and tactics to support our business goals. This is a key sales position reporting to the Vice President of Sales at Hometown Food Company.
Regional Director of Sales Job Responsibilities:
- Establishes regional sales & profit objectives by creating a sales plan and quota for region in support of national objectives.
- Achieves sales & profit objectives by contributing regional sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews. Prepares and completes action plans and implements approved plans.
- Achieves planned results by maintaining and expanding the customer base by building and maintaining rapport with key customers and identifying new customer opportunities.
- Achieves regional sales & profit objectives through monthly maintenance of forecast, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances monthly, and initiating corrective actions.
- Resolves problems, identifies trends, determines regional sales & profit system improvements, and implements change when necessary.
- Recommend product lines by identifying new product opportunities, surveying consumer needs and trends and tracking competitors.
- Trade Management: responsible for complete, timely & accurate maintenance of “Exceedra”, trade management tool.
- Must be able to secure appointments, prepare sales presentations, present to customers in person and close new business opportunities.
- History of working with Grocery wholesalers and downstream retailers they supply.
- The ability to manage a broker network is required.

- Self-starter, can work independently (without a lot of guidance).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup or Private Equity environment with an attitude focused on “what’s possible”.
- Track record of success in growing sales, profits and relationships with existing and/or new customers. Skills include:
- Developing and implementing sales strategies that align with company objectives.
- Develop & implement field sales plans to facilitate growth of regional products
- Addressing customer concerns and resolving problems that could affect sales goals.
- Recommend product enhancement to improve the sales potential of each customer & align with company sales objectives.
- Forecast Management and S&OP Process capabilities.
- Strong understanding of trade spending and promotional strategy.
- Proven skills utilizing and analyzing syndicated data including 84.51, IRI, and Nielsen.
- Proven skills in promotional tool maintenance.
- Building relationships: Developing relationships with customers, distributors, and other key industry personnel
- Industry and product knowledge
- Basic computer skills: Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Power Point. Basic understanding of TPM system.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the grocery channel.
- Direct or brokerage sales, on a regional basis.
- Strong record of accomplishment in developing brand and private label food or consumer packaged goods.
- Basic supply chain experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required - Marketing or Business Management preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability and willingness to travel 70% of the time.
