Job summary

EarthWork Seeds (EWS), part of the Gowan Company, is seeking a Sales Coordinator in Davis, California to connect sales, production, logistics and accounting, ensuring orders are accurate and on time for domestic and international customers.

Reporting to the Production & Operations Manager, you will manage orders, assist export docs, support HR and facilities, and help forecast sales while maintaining records and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in customer service, sales support or operations management.
• Experience in seed or agriculture industry preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems required.
• Strong organizational and cross-cultural communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process orders from domestic and international customers and serve as the primary communication link between sales staff, customers, and production to ensure accurate information is shared in a timely manner.
• Continuously monitor open orders to ensure on-time delivery and meet customer expectations.
• Assist export documentation and logistics requirements to ensure smooth, compliant order fulfillment.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date customer records and country-specific import/export requirements.
• Support HR, facilities, and cross-department coordination as needed.

Position Summary

EarthWork Seeds (EWS), part of the Gowan Company, is a vegetable germplasm development company based in Davis, California. EWS breeds, produces, and distributes high-quality vegetable seeds across a diverse range of crops to customers around the world.

EWS is looking for an organized, detail-oriented Sales Coordinator to fill this role. Reporting to the EWS production & operation Manager, the Sales Coordinator is the operational hub connecting sales, production, logistics, and accounting — ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and delivered on time to both domestic and international customers. The role also provides administrative and HR support to EWS in coordination with Gowan Company’s corporate departments.

Role Responsibilities:

Order & Customer Management

• Process orders from domestic and international customers, serving as the primary point of communication between sales staff, customers, and production to ensure accurate information is shared in a timely manner.
• Continuously monitor open orders to ensure on-time delivery and meet customer expectations.
• Assist export documentation and logistics requirements to ensure smooth, compliant order fulfillment.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date customer records and country-specific import / export & regulatory requirements.

Finance & Reporting

• Manage the end-to-end accounts payable and receivable process in the company’s system software, with support from the Gowan Company accounting department.
• Prepare monthly sales & accounts receivable reports for management.
• Assist the sales forecasting process in coordination with the sales team.
• Assist seed inventory and lab quality data, validating that forecasts can be met and promptly communicating any deviations or unplanned events to the appropriate stakeholders.

Administrative & Facilities Support

• Support the Gowan Company HR department on EWS-related matters, benefits administration, and procedures.
• Help ensure EWS facilities implement Gowan Company and state safety policies, in coordination with HR.
• Coordinate fleet vehicles, insurance, mobile phones, and general facility needs with Gowan Company.
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the growth of the business.

Other Duties as Assigned

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience / Skills / Abilities:

• 3–5 years of experience in customer service, sales support, or operations management.
• Experience in the seed or agriculture industry preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems required.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in English required; Spanish proficiency a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
• Comfortable working across cultures and time zones with international customers and partners.
