Job summary

The Gowan Co. in Davis, California, through EarthWork Seeds, is seeking a Sales Coordinator to connect sales, production, logistics and accounting, ensuring orders are processed accurately and delivered on time to domestic and international customers.

Reporting to the EWS production & operation Manager, you will handle order management, forecasting support, ERP data integrity, and HR/administrative tasks in coordination with corporate departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in customer service, sales support, or operations management.
• Experience in the seed or agriculture industry preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
• English proficiency required; Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process orders from domestic and international customers, coordinating with sales, production, and customers.
• Monitor open orders to ensure on-time delivery and accuracy.
• Assist export documentation and logistics requirements.
• Maintain customer records and regulatory requirements across countries.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable with support from accounting.
• Prepare monthly sales and AR reports for management.
• Support HR and facilities coordination as needed.

Position Summary

EarthWork Seeds (EWS), part of the Gowan Company, is a vegetable germplasm development company based in Davis, California. EWS breeds, produces, and distributes high-quality vegetable seeds across a diverse range of crops to customers around the world.

EWS is looking for an organized, detail-oriented Sales Coordinator to fill this role. Reporting to the EWS production & operation Manager, the Sales Coordinator is the operational hub connecting sales, production, logistics, and accounting — ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and delivered on time to both domestic and international customers. The role also provides administrative and HR support to EWS in coordination with Gowan Company’s corporate departments.

Role Responsibilities:

Order & Customer Management

• Process orders from domestic and international customers, serving as the primary point of communication between sales staff, customers, and production to ensure accurate information is shared in a timely manner.
• Continuously monitor open orders to ensure on-time delivery and meet customer expectations.
• Assist export documentation and logistics requirements to ensure smooth, compliant order fulfillment.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date customer records and country-specific import / export & regulatory requirements.

Finance & Reporting

• Manage the end-to-end accounts payable and receivable process in the company’s system software, with support from the Gowan Company accounting department.
• Prepare monthly sales & accounts receivable reports for management.
• Assist the sales forecasting process in coordination with the sales team.
• Assist seed inventory and lab quality data, validating that forecasts can be met and promptly communicating any deviations or unplanned events to the appropriate stakeholders.

Administrative & Facilities Support

• Support the Gowan Company HR department on EWS-related matters, benefits administration, and procedures.
• Help ensure EWS facilities implement Gowan Company and state safety policies, in coordination with HR.
• Coordinate fleet vehicles, insurance, mobile phones, and general facility needs with Gowan Company.
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the growth of the business.

Other Duties as Assigned

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience / Skills / Abilities:

• 3–5 years of experience in customer service, sales support, or operations management.
• Experience in the seed or agriculture industry preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems required.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in English required; Spanish proficiency a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
• Comfortable working across cultures and time zones with international customers and partners.
