Position Summary

The Sales Associate provides exceptional guest service and supports the daily museum and retail experience at the John Wayne Museum & Supply. This role ensures every guest feels welcomed, informed, and supported throughout their visit, while maintaining the brand ethos of Self-Reliance, Extreme Ownership, Teamwork, and Protect Your Time.

Sales Associates contribute to the overall success of the operation through guest engagement, product knowledge, accurate transactions, cleanliness, merchandising support, and maintaining a polished store environment. This role is essential in delivering the authentic, high-quality John Wayne experience.

This position requires strong communication, service orientation, and reliability.

Core Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Brand Standards
  • Provide a warm, welcoming, and informative experience to all museum and retail guests.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge, share brand storytelling, and support both museum and store questions.
  • Maintain a polished, approachable presence that aligns with the John Wayne brand.
  • Address guest inquiries promptly and elevate issues to a Key Holder or Assistant Manager as needed.
Operational Excellence
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and presentation at all times.
  • Ensure product is properly stocked, folded, and merchandised to visual standards.
  • Support ticketing flow, museum entry guidance, and crowd management during peak times.
  • Assist with basic BOH restocking tasks and Visuals tasks when directed by leadership.
Sales Support
  • Assist guests with sizing, product recommendations, and purchase decisions.
  • Accurately process sales transactions, returns, and exchanges using POS systems.
  • Support seasonal promotions, signage placement, and campaign execution.
  • Actively contribute to store sales goals through strong service and selling behaviors.
Community Engagement & Local Awareness
  • Maintain familiarity with the Stockyards area to assist visitors with local questions.
  • Represent the brand with friendliness and professionalism when interacting with tourists, locals, and partners.
Teamwork & Collaboration
  • Work closely with Assistant Managers, Key Holders, and fellow Sales Associates to ensure seamless operations.
  • Participate in cross-training efforts to support FOH, BOH, Visuals, and Technical needs.
  • Support teamwork across the entire leadership structure by following directions and communicating clearly.
Qualifications
  • Retail or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to work weekends and special events.
  • Professional, reliable, and willing to learn.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, and floor interaction.
  • Occasional lifting up to 20–30 lbs.
  • Fast-paced environment with consistent guest activity.
