Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a part-time sales teammate to deliver friendly, customer-focused service in a bustling store environment. You will handle transactions, answer questions, restock merchandise, and maintain a neat sales floor while keeping a professional appearance.

Role requires strong communication, basic math, and the ability to stand for long periods. Multilingual skills (Vietnamese, Korean, or Spanish) are a bonus and welcome.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and GGW associates.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all of our customers; multilingual ability is a bonus (Vietnamese, Korean or Spanish).
• Ability to settle customer complaints and perform basic math.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift).
• Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Ensures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Rings items accurately on the register and demonstrates cash handling skills.
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer questions promptly.
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an orderly and clean register area
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms)
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of six months of previous work experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working in a retail environment
• Excellent customer service related skills
• Working knowledge of a cash register
• Multilingual with complete fluency in English
