Job summary

Goodwill-of-Greater-Washington- is seeking a Store Associate to deliver friendly, professional service and help customers find items while maintaining store cleanliness and cash handling accuracy.

You will assist with shelving, answering questions, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers. This role requires quick math,standing for long periods, and basic computer use in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and GGW associates.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all of our customers.
• Ability to settle customer complaints.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift).
• Ability to bend and lift up to 40 pounds frequently.
• Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register.
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator.
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly.
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.2. Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner3. Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register4. Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain an orderly and clean register area 3. Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary4. Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include: store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms) 5. Perform other duties as assigned by management
