Goodwill of Greater Washington in Manassas, VA is seeking a store team member to deliver exceptional customer service, handle sales transactions, and help keep the sales floor inviting and organized.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and courteous service to customers in-store and by phone.
• Ensure merchandise is stocked and displayed on the sales floor promptly.
• Accurately rung and processed transactions at the register.
• Maintain neat, clean, and organized sales floor and register area.
• Assist customers with purchase decisions and product knowledge.
• Follow store security procedures and maintain safety protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an orderly and clean register area
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms)
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and GGW associates
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all of our customers
• Ability to settle customer complaints
• Ability to perform basic math skills
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift)
• Ability to bend and lift up to 40 pounds frequently
• Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of six months of previous work experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working in a retail environment
• Excellent customer service related skills
• Working knowledge of a cash register
• Multilingual with complete fluency in English
