Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a Sales Team Member to be the welcoming face of our retail operations. You will assist customers, help with purchases, ring up items, and ensure shelves are stocked and merchandised promptly.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, courteous service to customers inside, outside, and on the phone.
• Ensure merchandise is placed on the sales floor promptly.
• Ring items accurately on the register and handle cash properly.
• Operate card machines and use a calculator for transactions.
• Maintain knowledge of merchandise and answer questions promptly.
• Keep floor merchandise neat and assist customers with selections.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and store area.
• Maintain an orderly register area and follow security practices.
• Perform housekeeping duties including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
• Support management with additional duties as assigned.
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures as needed.
• Assist with general upkeep and restocking tasks.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• 1. Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• 2. Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• 3. Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register
• 4. Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator
• 5. Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly
• 6. Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• 7. Maintains clean professional appearance

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• 1. Maintain an orderly and clean register area
• 3. Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• 4. Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include: store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms)
• 5. Perform other duties as assigned by management

Preferred Qualifications

• 1. A minimum of six months of previous work experience
• 2. High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3. Previous experience working in a retail environment
• 4. Excellent customer service related skills
• 5. Working knowledge of a cash register
• 6. Multilingual with complete fluency in English
