Curtis Lumber Co Inc. is hiring a Sales Associate/Yard Material Handler at our New Berlin location. You will manage phone inquiries, build quotes, prepare orders for pickup or delivery, and assist customers in-store.

The yard role covers loading/unloading material outdoors with proper PPE and safety practices. The position offers competitive wages starting at $18 per hour with annual performance-based raises, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills to advise customers and handle inquiries.
• Ability to build quotes and process orders for pickup or delivery.
• Experience in a retail yard or material handling environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Sales: handle customer needs, quotes, orders, and upsell opportunities.
• Material Handling: load, unload, and store material with safe practices.
• Assist customers in the store and outdoors in varied weather.

Our New Berlin location is looking for a Sales Associate/Yard Material Handler who will do a combination of both positions. For the Sales portion of the role, this employee will take phone calls, build quotes and orders for pick up or delivery and assist with all customers’ needs as they enter the store. Our Yard Material Handler portion will provide exceptional customer service in our outdoor yard environment with the use of proper material handling practices and PPE to load, unload, and store material.

Starting rate $18 hourly! Annual Performance based raises!

DUTIES

Sales

• Understand the building materials marketplace and know product features
• Work to meet prospect customers’ needs - Excellent customer service skills
• Effective suggestive and upgrade selling and add on sales
• Effective closing technique
• Quote follow up- quote to order conversion
• Share expertise with others

Material Handling

• Inventory management and merchandising of product
• Safe and proper use of equipment and materials
• Work outside year-round in a variety of seasonal weather conditions
• Customer service skills to service our customers
