Responsibilities

• Provide accurate reporting of sales and inventory; analyze product cost data.
• Generate and distribute recurring management reports (inventory, reserves, outlook vs. actuals).
• Support month-end entries and timely completion of monthly account analysis.
• Assist and lead terminal and warehouse inventory audits and reconciliations.
• Provide support for external audits, government, and tax reporting.
• Evaluate data accuracy; improve accounting procedures and controls.
• Develop and implement accounting practices for consistency and automation.
• Tie-outs to FIFO/LIFO and SAP inventory valuation.

We are looking for a Sales and Inventory Staff Accountant at our headquarters located in Dallas, TX.

Essential Job Duties

• Provide accurate and timely reporting of sales and inventory information, analyze product cost data, monitor/reconcile terminal and warehouse inventory, and ensure integrity and accuracy of the month end accounting close process.
• Generate and distribute recurring management reports (inventory, reserves, outlook vs. actuals).
• Support business and manufacturing locations with month end entries and timely completion of monthly account analysis.
• Assist and lead terminal and warehouse inventory physical audits and completion of book to book and book to physical monthly reconciliations.
• Provide support for external audits, government, and tax reporting.
• Evaluate the accuracy and reliability of accounting data, effectiveness of existing accounting procedures and controls, and make recommendations for improvement.
• Develop, recommend, and implement accounting practices to promote consistency, application of best practices, task automation, and efficiencies.
• General understanding and experience with standard, average, FIFO, and LIFO basis of accounting for inventory. Assist with FIFO/LIFO/Split Valuation models and tie-outs to SAP.

Qualifications

• 1 – 5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (with a minimum of 18 hours of accounting)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to maintain relationships in a hybrid work environment and supporting Controllers in various locations
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• SAP S/4HANA (FI, CO, PA, BW transactions)
• Strong understanding of inventory, intercompany and cost accounting
• Detail oriented with ability to prioritize during close under time constraints

Additional Desired Qualifications

• Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment and experience with average costing (material ledger postings and analysis is a plus)
• Excels in a flexible environment (role rotations every 12 – 18 months, hybrid schedule and overtime during month end close and peak times)
• Exposure to system integration and reporting systems (IBM Cognos, Business Warehouse, SAP Analytics Cloud)
• Collaborative and excel in a team environment
