Job summary

Navajo Tribal Utility Authority is seeking a senior safety and training leader to supervise, develop and implement comprehensive safety education programs for staff across the organization. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, organizational learning & development, human resources, or related field.
  • 10 years of safety and adult education experience in public utility or construction related industry.
  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • OSHA 1910 and 1926 30-Hour certification.
  • Instructor certification or equivalent.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required, subject to motor record review.

Responsibilities

  • Improves staff effectiveness by counseling, training and recommending corrective action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising tasks and results.
  • Oversees the supervision of personnel, including work allocation, time approval, hiring, training, orientation, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and motivates staff to peak productivity.
  • Develops measurable performance expectations for assigned staff according to department goals.
  • Establishes, implements and communicates goals, objectives, policies and procedures per strategic plan and laws.
  • Hosts regular staff meetings to ensure communication between personnel and program activities.
  • Prepares and administers annual budget; justifies budget recommendations.
  • Manages safety policies, procedures and plans; collaborates with stakeholders on updates.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal, State, Tribal and local regulations and standards.
  • Maintains ERP; coordinates training, exercises and updates.
  • Oversees safety-related public information programs; advises management on effectiveness.
  • Analyzes work performance to improve safety; ensures safe work activities.
  • Assists the Safety, Training and Regulatory Compliance Manager as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements; adheres to quality and customer service standards.
  • Generates safety reports and identifies root causes to reduce hazards.
  • Oversees design and measurement of training programs for NTUA workforce.
  • Develops training materials and manuals.
  • Evaluates training effectiveness and instructor performance.
  • Coordinates NTUA education programs and reports metrics.
  • Incorporates NTUA Vision, Mission, Values in program initiatives.
  • Maintains knowledge of safety regulations and acts as SME.
  • Advocates and models safe, ethical behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Organizational Learning & Development, Human Resources or related field
High School Diploma or GED Certificate
