Job summary

Paycom - ATS seeks a safety technician to perform routine environmental and safety inspections across hospital departments. You will help with fire extinguisher inspections, egress route and exit signage reviews, and participate in Environment of Care rounds to ensure compliance.

You will assist with safety records, SDS files, chemical inventories, and emergency preparedness activities, supporting infection prevention and construction safety inspections as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical, vocational, maintenance, or safety-related training preferred.
• No prior healthcare experience required.
• Experience in maintenance, construction, safety, environmental services, or utilities preferred.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and facility operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine environmental and safety inspections throughout hospital departments.
• Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections and document findings.
• Inspect emergency egress routes, exit signage, and fire doors for compliance.
• Assist with Environment of Care and Life Safety rounds.
• Check eyewash stations, emergency showers, and safety equipment as assigned.
• Monitor hazardous storage areas for compliance with safety requirements.
• Assist with maintaining safety records, logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
• Report safety hazards, deficiencies, and corrective action needs to the Safety Director.
• Assist with emergency preparedness activities, drills, and exercises.
• Help maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) files and chemical inventory records.
• Assist with infection prevention and construction safety barrier inspections when requested.
• Participate in safety education and awareness activities.
