WVU Medicine in Martinsburg, WV is seeking a Safety Technician to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and employees. You will inspect life-safety systems, record findings, and support safety programs under the WVU Medicine Safety Director.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; five years’ life safety experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and record information while inspecting Fire Extinguishers.
  • Inspect and record information while inspecting Exit Lights.
  • Inspect and record information while inspecting Emergency Lights.
  • Inspect and record information while inspecting Fire/Smoke Barrier Doors.
  • Inspect and record information while inspecting Eye Wash Stations.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills; one per shift per quarter; include offsite facilities.
  • Participate in committee and improvement activities as directed by Safety Director.
  • Assist with inventory and maintenance of disaster supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other administrative duties to support WVU Medicine safety programs.

Ensures the safety of patients, visitors, and employees by making sure that safety doors, lights, and fire extinguishers are inspected and up to code. All inspections will be in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and The Joint Commission standards.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS****:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.**EXPERIENCE:**1. Two (2) years’ experience in healthcare life safety.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS****:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. Bachelor’s Degree.**EXPERIENCE:**1.
