Job summary

Roseburg Forest Products seeks a safety professional to lead basic safety initiatives at the facility in Oregon. The role supports execution of safety expectations and coordinates with plant management to meet safety metrics.

You will interpret safety regulations, educate staff, and monitor inspections while maintaining strong communication with the safety committee and workers’ compensation department. A degree progress plan is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree progress toward completion within 3 years of placement.
• Excellent listening, written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to make decisions and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
• Experience operating a PC with the Microsoft suite of programs.
• Demonstrated understanding of company safety policies and applicable occupational safety regulations.
• Strong teaching, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Maintain the highest ethical standards in dealing with confidential information.
• Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment.
• General Industry Safety experience preferred.
• Two plus years advanced education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a resource to plant manager and team coordinators to achieve safety metrics and lead safety initiatives.
• Interpret and enforce safety regulations and work rules.
• Procure and monitor safety supplies and equipment.
• Conduct, analyze and prioritize results of safety inspections.
• Maintain J.S.A. sheets and MSDS books.
• Analyze incidents and develop preventative training programs.
• Communicate with injured workers and medical community as appropriate.
• Work with safety committees and support their development.
• Input safety data into eCompliance.
• Support safety functions to meet company goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on safety-related projects.
• Act as resource for multiple plants as assigned.
• Model company core values.
