Job summary

Shirley Parsons is seeking a Project Safety Specialist for a permanent, on-site role in Reno, NV. The position requires at least 3 years of safety management on major construction projects and strongly prefers CHST certification.

Responsibilities

• Undertake job site inspections, accident investigations and audits, proposing corrective actions to improve safety program and culture.
• Partner with Safety Director to highlight key metrics/trends for senior leadership.
• Conduct new hire orientation and implement OSHA-compliant safety training.
• Engage with operational leadership, job-site teams, GC and client on safety matters as the technical expert.

Job description

This is a permanent (NOT A CONTRACT), non-exempt position paid on an hourly rate and eligible for overtime pay.

• $55 (no CHST) - $58 (CHST) per hour + OT + benefits.
• 60+ hours per week expected.
• $10k will be provided as relocation assistance for non-local candidates OR as a sign-on bonus for local candidates.

An industry leading MEP contractor is looking to appoint a Project Safety Specialist in Reno, NV. You will be responsible for overseeing safety performance on a marquee project in the Reno area. This represents a fantastic opportunity to join an industry leader, where you will be given the platform to succeed in the role.

The Role:

• Undertake job site inspections, accident investigations and audits as deemed necessary - putting forward corrective actions to continually develop the safety program and culture
• Work in partnership with the Safety Director in highlighting key safety metrics/trends on the jobsite, which will be reported back to senior leadership
• Conduct new hire-orientation and implement training programs in compliance with all OSHA requirements
• Engage with all operational leadership, job-site teams, GC and the client in regards to safety related matters - acting as the technical expert for any issues that may arise

The Candidate:

• A minimum of 3 years proven experience managing safety on major construction projects. Mechanical experience desired
• CHST certification (strongly desired) - Candidates will be expected to achieve CHST if hired for the position
• A strong communicator who can engage with both key internal and external stakeholders
• Based near Reno, and happy to travel to the project daily (Relo Assistance will be provided)
