Qualifications

• Fluent in English, written and verbal.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• BCSP Board Certified.
• College degree in EH&S or equivalent.
• Ability to teach safety programs to others.

About the role:

The Safety Specialist will perform onsite construction safety related duties on a project in Frederick, MD.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as an owner's representative for safety
• Duties as required by 1926 OSHA Standards for Construction
• Ensure compliance for the safety of site workers and general public
• Develop safety kick-off presentations and conduct on-site orientations and pre-shift meetings
• Conduct daily site safety inspections, safety assessments and safety audits
• Investigate incidents and complete associated paperwork
• Conduct risk assessments
• Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health
• Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports as requested by management or customer
• Maintain all safety related documentation

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

• Fluent in English, written and verbal
• OSHA 30
• BCSP Board Certified
• Collegiate Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or equivalent
• Ability to teach and train others on safety programs (required)
• Ability to identify known potential exposures and recommending corrective action
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Technological competency
• 5 plus years of construction safety experience
• Bio pharmaceutical experience

What we offer:

The current project will be a 12 month duration with a potential to extend. The schedule will vary, however, the expectation for the position is a minimum of 40 hours weekly as required by client. This is a1099 contract no per diem; depending on experience, and ranges from $45-50 per hour. You must reside in the area and able to commute successfully for day-to-day operation. The schedule is M-F; however, flexibility is a must.
