Job summary

National Association of Women in Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager / Facility Manager to join the Project Management team. The role oversees safety documentation, jobsite safety practices, and facility maintenance coordination, with 2-4 days of site visits weekly using a company vehicle.

The position is full-time and on-site at the Frederick, MD office, reporting to upper management and supporting field crews with safety training and compliance.

Qualifications

• Prior construction safety experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction safety practices, training records, and jobsite requirements.
• Ability to communicate professionally with contractors, foremen, field employees, and leadership.
• Highly organized with the ability to maintain safety records, training schedules, and documentation.
• Willingness to complete a train-the-trainer program and lead trainings.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and update safety documents, manuals, policies, and procedures.
• Complete safety submittals required by project teams and authorities.
• Visit active jobsites to observe conditions and support field crews.
• Attend safety calls/meetings and provide advance notice if unavailable.
• Lead toolbox talks and ensure training certifications are current.
• Monitor facility including 10,000 sqft office and 25,000 sqft warehouse; coordinate repairs.

Construction Safety Manager / Facility Manager

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

About the Role

A commercial construction specialty subcontracting firm is looking for an experienced, technologically proficient Safety Manager to join their Project Management team. The Construction Safety Manager / Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing company-wide safety documentation, jobsite safety practices, employee training compliance, and facility maintenance coordination. This position plays a key role in supporting field crews, maintaining safety standards, coordinating required submittals and training, and ensuring company facilities remain in good working condition.

This is a full-time on-site position based in our Frederick, MD office with visits to jobsites being a requirement 2-4 days per week using a company provided vehicle.

Safety Management Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and update company safety documents, manuals, policies, and procedures.
• Complete safety submittals required by contractors, owners, general contractors, or project teams.
• Make regular jobsite visits to observe work conditions, review safety compliance, and support field crews.
• Attend all scheduled safety calls or provide advance notice when unable to participate.
• Attend onsite safety meetings with contractors and project teams as needed.
• Regularly check in with onsite foremen to review safety concerns, job-specific requirements, equipment status, and training needs.
• Verify that tools, equipment, vehicles, and safety-related gear are up to date, compliant, and properly documented.
• Collect, organize, and maintain toolbox talks and job-specific safety requirements for each project.
• Conduct monthly job-specific toolbox talks or safety discussions with company field employees, when applicable.
• Keep employee safety training certifications current and schedule required training before certifications expire.
• Complete a train-the-trainer program to conduct employee and subcontractor training sessions and issue applicable certifications.

Facility Management Responsibilities

• Monitor company facility, including 10,000 sqft of office space and 25,000 sqft of warehouse, and proactively identify building-related issues, including HVAC, plumbing, roof leaks, and other maintenance concerns.
• Coordinate repairs, service calls, follow-up items, and communication related to building maintenance needs.
• Take ownership of facility concerns by investigating issues, tracking resolution progress, and ensuring problems are addressed in a timely manner.
• Meet with upper management to discuss issues and present economical solutions.

Work Expectations

• Report to the office daily unless otherwise directed.
• Travel to active jobsites as required to support crews, attend meetings, and perform safety reviews.
• Maintain clear communication with office leadership, project teams, foremen, and field employees.
• Use company-provided vehicle for approved business travel and jobsite visits
• Submit to background checks for site access.

Qualifications

• Prior construction safety experience preferred, with the ability to work effectively in both office and jobsite environments.
• Strong understanding of construction safety practices, toolbox talks, training records, and jobsite safety requirements.
• Ability to communicate professionally with contractors, foremen, field employees, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
• Highly organized and able to maintain safety records, training schedules, certifications, manuals, and project-specific documentation.
• Willingness and ability to complete a train-the-trainer program and lead safety training sessions.
• Valid drivers license required with a clean driving record.
