Job Title: Safety Specialist

STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Training in Caldwell, ID and transferring to Nampa, ID
Department: Safety
Reports to: Sr. Safety Manager

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for implementing and managing the safety policies and procedures. This role will work as part of a team developing, implementing, and evaluating safety policies and programs across the organization.

Who You Are:
  • You are proactive and passionate about preventing workplace incidents before they occur.
  • You communicate safety expectations clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • You stay calm under pressure and respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
  • You lead by example and inspire others to prioritize safety in their daily work.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures in collaboration with Safety Managers.
  • Drive continuous safety improvement using best management practices and safety indicators.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims process, including investigation and documentation.
  • Coordinate onboarding, training, and safety meetings for employees.
  • Monitor air permitting requirements and maintain related documentation.
  • Assist with OSHA reports and KPI tracking.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and weekly walk-arounds.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety records and manage documentation in company systems.
  • Provide First Aid and emergency medical response as trained.
  • Maintain First Aid supplies and equipment, including AEDs.
  • Coordinate First Aid and CPR training for employees.
  • Report and document First Aid incidents according to policies and laws.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, safety and health, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years’ experience as a safety professional preferred.
  • OSHA10 and OSHA30 certifications.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety regulations, programs, and procedures.
  • Effective adult training and communication skills.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements, including air permitting.
  • Data analysis skills related to compliance and safety metrics.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and support incident management.
  • Team-oriented with flexibility to support safety functions.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to access all work areas and perform physical tasks including climbing and confined space entry.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
  • Proficiency in first aid and emergency response management.
