We are pleased to present the following position for your consideration:

Overview: Safety Specialist

Heritage Behavioral Health Center is expanding its safety team and seeking individuals with prior experience in security or safety roles. This position is responsible for ensuring safety and security at our Decatur facilities. Currently, the available shift is 7 pm to 5 am, four days a week.

Core Responsibilities Include:

1. Conducting rounds to secure interior spaces of buildings;
2. Monitoring sensitive areas during high traffic times;
3. Enforcing smoking policies outside the building;
4. Assisting emergency personnel as needed;
5. Responding to internal emergency codes;
6. Continuously monitoring all floors for safety concerns;
7. Communicating effectively and collaborating with safety team members and staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to work 35-40 hours weekly, including afternoons, nights, and weekends;
2. Ability to be firm yet compassionate in interactions;
3. Experience working with mentally ill or substance-using populations using trauma-informed approaches is highly recommended.

Education and Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required;
2. Prior security or safety experience preferred;
3. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required.

Salary Range: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour ($37,440 - $49,920 annually), depending on experience and education.
