Job summary

Sheakley Workforce Staffing is seeking a Construction Safety Specialist to lead safety on civil, concrete, infrastructure, site development and commercial projects across Ohio. This field-based role blends safety oversight with training, auditing, incident management and regulatory compliance.

You will work with project teams, craft personnel and subcontractors to promote safe work practices, perform audits and coordinate root-cause investigations while traveling to sites as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of construction safety experience.
• OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification required.
• Proactive safety leadership in field environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine jobsite safety audits and corrective action follow-up.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and client safety standards.
• Conduct safety training and assist with project orientations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Provide first-response assistance for injured workers when necessary.
• Manage site-specific safety documentation and reporting requirements.
• Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Identify hazards and improve safety performance with field leadership.
• Support respiratory protection programs and fit testing.
• Maintain certifications, records, and jobsite approvals.
• Conduct field observations and hazard assessments on active projects.

Construction Safety Specialist

Primary Location: Columbus, OH
Additional Project Locations: Lima, OH & Franklin Furnace, OH (as project needs require)
Start Date: ASAP
Type: Full-Time W2 | Direct Hire

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 Annually
Relocation Assistance: $2,500 Paid on First Check
Benefits: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, and Full Benefits Package

Additional Incentive: 10% Compensation Increase While Assigned to Per Diem Projects outside of Columbus, OH, Plus $178/Day Per Diem While Onsite
Pay Frequency: Bi-Weekly
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Additional Schedule Details: Overtime paid when working Saturdays and Sundays. Travel to project sites throughout Ohio may be required.

Required Qualifications

• OSHA 500 Certification OR OSHA 510 Certification Required
• Minimum 2+ Years of Construction Safety Experience

What You'll Be Doing
