Job summary

Sheakley Workforce Staffing seeks a Construction Safety Manager for an 8-month, 1099 contractor role in Sandusky, OH. You will provide hands-on field safety oversight across utility and concrete construction, coordinating with craft personnel, subcontractors, and project leadership to keep work compliant and productive.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in construction safety, data center or large commercial projects, OSHA 30, and CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of construction safety experience.
• Data Center Construction or Large Commercial Building Construction experience.
• Associate's or Bachelor's in EHS, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or BCSP credential (ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST, or STSC).
• OSHA 30 Construction Certification.
• Current CPR / First Aid / AED Certification (Within Past 2 Years).

Responsibilities

• Provide daily field safety oversight for utility and concrete construction operations.
• Maintain a highly visible presence in active work areas.
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
• Review JHAs/AHAs, permits, and pre-task plans to ensure compliance.
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions.
• Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, subcontractors, and contractors.

Construction Safety Manager

Location: Sandusky, OH
Duration: 8 Months (Start: Immediate Need)
Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $56/hr
Per Diem: $125/Day (7 Days Per Week)
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: 50 Hours Per Week | Monday-Friday | 1st Shift
Additional Schedule Details: Standard schedule is 5x10s. Additional overtime may become available based on project milestones and construction demands.

The Construction Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence while working directly with craft personnel, equipment operators, subcontractors, supervision, and project leadership to identify hazards, maintain compliance, and support the safe execution of utility and concrete construction activities within a fast-paced mission-critical construction environment.

Required Qualifications

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide daily field safety oversight for utility and concrete construction operations
• Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
• Monitor excavation activities, underground utility installation, concrete placement, grading operations, and heavy equipment activities
• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), permits, and pre-task plans
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions
• Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
• Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, subcontractors, and contractors
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
• Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project
