Otter Tail Power Company is seeking a Manager, Safety Services to lead company-wide safety, security and regulatory programs, building a culture where every employee returns home safely. This role partners with leaders across the organization, mentors a safety team, drives continuous improvement, and ensures OSHA/MSHA/DOT compliance while supporting asset protection and cybersecurity initiatives.

Reporting to the Director HR & Safety, it focuses on strategic safety leadership within OTP's

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety-related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience involving safety management responsibilities.
• Experience working with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, claims management, Workers' Compensation programs, safety training, and security-related functions.
• Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and foster employee development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and organizational levels.
• Ability to influence and guide teams, committees, leaders, and employees toward shared safety goals.
• Ability to build trust and credibility throughout the organization.
• Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and enhance company-wide safety, security, and compliance programs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and other applicable safety regulations.
• Oversee safety training, reporting, audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Analyze safety performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Safety Services staff while supporting safety committees across the company.
• Manage Workers' Compensation cases, incident investigations, and return-to-work programs.
• Serve as the primary company contact for regulatory agencies and safety-related partnerships.
• Oversee physical security programs, support cybersecurity initiatives, and help protect company assets and employees.
• Manage departmental budgets, PPE programs, safety supplies, and policy development.
• Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and employee well-being throughout the organization.
