Job summary

LeCom Utility Contractors seeks a Safety Manager to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, oversee OSHA recordkeeping, and implement safety protocols on job sites.

You will train staff, develop safety programs, and coordinate safety measures with clients and vendors, enabling safer projects and adherence to regulations across sites.

Position Summary

The Safety Manager will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes. The role is responsible for managing OSHA recordkeeping, employee training, and implementing safety protocols on job sites.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and codes are observed.
  • Monitor and implement updates in safety regulations, laws, and/or reporting requirements.
  • Manage OSHA recordkeeping, reporting, and employee training requirements.
  • Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations.
  • Compile, analyze, interpret, and report accidents, review property and injury reports.
  • Develop, organize, and implement safety training for new employee orientation and required programs.
  • Coordinate the purchase of essential safety supplies, products, and training items.
  • Evaluate safety protocols on job sites and report problems to management.
  • Write detailed reports detailing any incidents and escalating issues as needed.
  • Conduct onsite safety inspections.
  • Assist with the development of controls for identified hazards and coordinate the implementation of controls.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control systems policies and procedures; recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Train field staff.
  • Communicate with clients and vendors to establish safety parameters.
  • Actively participate in meetings; suggest safety improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Facilitate safety discussions.
  • Conduct annual refresher employee training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a utilities or construction safety role, preferably in electrical utility construction.
  • Preferred CHST, CUSP (Electric T&D endorsement).
  • Preferred 510 training completion.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State safety regulations.

  • Outgoing personality, self‑motivated.
  • Excellent customer service, telephonic, electronic, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with, persuade, and gain buy‑in from a broad range of stakeholders from a new crew to senior executive leaders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Must have organization, attention to detail, flexibility, and strong ability to multi‑task.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment without direct supervision.
  • Must embrace a team‑based, initiative‑driven environment.
  • Must possess a high level of technical expertise.
  • Must be open to some travel.
