Job summary

Hawaiian Electric Companies is seeking a Safety Program Manager to lead safety initiatives across Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii Island. The role focuses on developing and promoting a culture of safety, coordinating with multiple departments, and delivering training and continuous program improvements.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in program management within safety domains, PMP (or equivalent) certification, and strong communication skills to drive safety outcomes across large enterprise teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of project and program management principles.
• Working knowledge of OSHA/HIOSH/DOT/DOH/PUC/NIOSH rules, regulations and guidelines.
• Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of general electrical utility safety practices and industrial hygiene.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and manages program activity including budgeting, design/development of written programs, approval and implementation.
• Develops strategies to attain safety program goals and monitors progress.
• Acts as focal point for safety program matters and conducts training and information distribution.
• Establishes measurable metrics and reports progress to all employee levels.
• Coordinates with internal and external parties to obtain approvals and implement safety programs.
• Participates in company emergency response activities as assigned.
