Status
Full-Time/Hourly (40 hours/week; additional hours as needed to support organization and individual goals).
Job Requirements
- Associate's degree in related field, or equivalent education
- Minimum of 3 years of safety-related experience
- Ability to communicate, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs
- Ability to lead and direct teams and/or committees
- Excellent customer relations, communication, and team building skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to travel: domestic and international
Job Preferences
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering, or related field.
- Knowledge of the regulations established by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act (MIOSHA) and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)
- MIOSHA and OSHA training certifications
- In-depth knowledge of plant operations
- Advanced problem-solving skills
Job Summary
To manage and coordinate all safety program activities for manufacturing sites. Assists with planning, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health and safety programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to Corporate/Plant safety programs by employees and subcontractors, including carrying out delegated authority to stop operations until safe work practices are re-established.
- Help standardize and implement safety programs across multiple facilities
- Support and deliver safety orientation and core training programs
- Partner with plant teams to promote a positive, engaging safety culture
- Assist with incident investigations and corrective action processes, driving consistency across sites
- Conduct risk assessments, JSAs, and hazard evaluations
- Verify that findings from cross-site audits are effectively addressed and corrected, ensuring timely closure and consistency across all facilities
- Support safety in design for new equipment, processes, and facility improvements
- Travel to sites to audit, coach, and align safety practices
- Improve communication of safety expectations, lessons learned, and best practices across all plants
