Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Safety Partner to support the Nursing Resource Pool. The role involves two 12-hour night shifts (7:00pm–7:00am) across units to maintain patient safety for individuals at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, and other behaviors.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, healthcare experience preferred, and completion of Sentara Safety Partner Training plus core competencies.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Prior healthcare experience preferred.
• Must complete Sentara Safety Partner Training during orientation in addition to core competencies.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire; de-escalation and physical intervention training within 30 days (15 days for Behavioral Health).

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, or self-harm.
• Float to units in the Nursing Resource Pool to meet Safety Partner needs.
• Participate in de-escalation and physical intervention training as scheduled.
• Follow established safety protocols and core competencies for all safety partners.
