Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a Safety Partner to join our team on-site. This part-time role (24 hours per week) supports patient safety for individuals at risk and requires completion of a safety training program during orientation.

BLS is required within 90 days of hire, with prior healthcare experience preferred. De-escalation and intervention training will be provided within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, or self-harm.
• Provide de-escalation and safety support including restraints when necessary.
• Participate in orientation and complete core competency trainings during onboarding.

Applicants without prior experience or current health sciences program status must successfully complete a Sentara Safety Partner Training Course in addition to core competencies during orientation. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Core competencies for all safety partners to include communication, confidentiality, de-escalation, fall prevention, patient safety, restraints, stroke, and suicide. The base pay range for full-time employment is $17.82 - $25.65 hourly.
