Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to three years of applicable security experience.
  • State-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record as defined by mandates.

Responsibilities

  • Make scheduled rounds inside and outside of the building to maintain a secure environment.
  • Schedule and ensure fire and disaster drills are conducted for each shift with logs kept.
  • Maintain security records including safety inspections, repair needs, and service requests; ensure safety equipment is in good working order.
  • Respond to fire alarms and emergency calls and notify team members as necessary.
  • Maintain daily guard report and ensure accurate information sharing between shifts.
  • Ensure proper entrances/exits and verify identification of guests, staff, residents and vendors.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks as needed, such as changing light bulbs or unclogging drains.
  • Transport residents or staff on or off the property as required.
  • Deliver packages and distribute in-house mail; greet residents and assist with luggage and vehicle parking.

POSITION: SAFETY AND SECURITY OFFICER

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT/FULL-TIME

Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Safety & Security Officer to join our team at Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere located in Dallas, Texas. The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all residents and company property. Is responsible for ensuring that all safety and security checks are completed. This position is responsible for reporting suspicious and/or unusual circumstances.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a part-time, overnight, hourly position with a salary of $15.50+ per hour. In addition, Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere offers competitive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, generous PTO and holiday vacation time, and 401K.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Has a good working knowledge of all Life Safety Systems
  • Maintain daily guard report of shift and provide detail explanation of occurrences and ensures that information shared between shifts is accurate.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all guests, team members, residents, vendors etc. enter and exit the community and building through the appropriate entrances and exits and provide appropriate identification as requested.
  • Perform light maintenance as needed or requested such as changing light bulbs, unclogging toilets/drains etc.
  • Transport residents and/or team members on and/or off the property as needed or requested.
  • Deliver packages to residents and distribute in-house mail.
  • Greet residents and guests, assist with luggage, and packages and parks and retrieves resident vehicles.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to three years applicable experience.
  • A state issued driver’s license with a driving record clear of infractions as defined by current
  • insurance mandates.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors, and team members.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with residents and guests.
  • Basic computer skill.
  • Must be able to make independent sound decisions on a timely and regular basis. Must have the ability to respond to emergencies in a direct and decisive manner.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The physical responsibilities of this position constantly require effective bending, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position often involves medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned or make general observations of the community; close visual acuity, such as reading a computer screen, reading printed material, inspection of small defects, and using measurement devices. The functions of this position are conducted in a temperature- controlled environment and not substantially exposed to adverse environment conditions and may be routinely exposed to noise, vibration, working hazards such as mechanical equipment, exposure to heat, exposure to chemicals, work in close quarters, narrow aisles or passage ways, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, cleaning chemicals, dust, odors and a variety of pets.

INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with team members and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.

OSHA Category Classification:

Category III: Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.

The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.
