Engtal is seeking a Safety Manager to lead on a major heavy civil/utility construction project in the Greater Baltimore and Philadelphia region. This full-time, on-site role is built to establish a permanent Mid-Atlantic safety operation and partner with project teams to drive a disciplined safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-time safety leadership and oversight on an active heavy civil / utility construction project.
• Implement and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, job hazard analyses, and safety meetings.
• Partner closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to proactively identify and mitigate risk.
• Lead toolbox talks, orientations, training, and ongoing safety education for field teams.
• Investigate incidents and near misses and develop appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain required safety documentation and ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Build strong relationships with field personnel and promote a safety culture based on accountability, communication, and practical field leadership.
• Support additional projects and regional safety initiatives as the company's Mid-Atlantic operation grows.

A rapidly growing heavy civil and utility contractor is looking to add a Safety Manager to support its expanding operations in the Mid-Atlantic. The project is expected to serve as a springboard for the company's broader expansion into the Mid-Atlantic, with plans to continue pursuing utility, infrastructure, and energy work throughout the region. The company has experienced significant growth and is continuing to expand its footprint across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Its work sits within growing infrastructure markets, particularly electric transmission and distribution, utilities, and renewable energy.

About the Role

The position will initially be dedicated to a major project in the greater Baltimore region requiring full-time, onsite safety leadership. This is an opportunity to join an established contractor during the early stages of building out a new regional operation. While the immediate responsibility will be project-focused, the long-term goal is to develop a permanent presence in the market and build a team around future work. The immediate need is tied to a significant project, but the broader objective is to establish a long-term operation and continue winning work throughout the region.

Qualifications

• Relevant safety certifications such as CHST, CSP, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or similar credentials are beneficial.

Required Skills

• Construction safety experience within heavy civil, utilities, energy, electrical infrastructure, sitework, or a related self-perform environment.
• Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and construction safety best practices.
• Comfortable spending significant time in the field and working directly with craft employees, foremen, and project leadership.
• Able to balance enforcement with coaching and relationship building.
• Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
• Experience supporting utility or energy infrastructure projects is particularly attractive.
