Job summary

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction safety experience.
• Experience leading safety programs across multiple projects or portfolios.

• Willingness to travel regularly across regional sites.

Job description

An established Mid-Atlantic contractor is seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead and strengthen safety operations across its construction portfolio. The company delivers highway, bridge, heavy civil, institutional and commercial projects throughout Maryland.

This senior leadership position will oversee safety performance and support the continued development of standards across the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead the company-wide safety program across all active projects and facilities.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve safety policies, procedures and training.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, MOSH and all applicable federal, state and local regulations.
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Partner with project executives, project managers and superintendents to develop site-specific safety plans.
• Promote a proactive culture in which safety takes priority over production.
• Provide visible field leadership across projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Requirements

• 10+ years of construction safety experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Strong experience within heavy civil, highway, bridge or infrastructure construction.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA and MOSH regulations.
• OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500 or 510 strongly preferred.
• CHST, CSP or an equivalent professional safety certification preferred.
• Ability to travel regularly between regional project sites.
