Talently is seeking a Regional EHS Manager for Utility Construction in the Mid-Atlantic region. This role is hybrid with travel to project sites and facilities, overseeing safety programs across transmission, distribution, and substation projects.

You will develop policies, conduct investigations, mentor EHS staff, and partner with operations leaders to drive safety performance while ensuring compliance with OSHA and client requirements. Competitive salary and bonus accompany the role.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years EHS experience, or a BA/BS with 5+ years EHS experience.
• Experience in electric utility construction (transmission, distribution, substations).
• Strong OSHA, EHS compliance, incident investigation knowledge.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across organizational levels.
• MS Office and EHS reporting proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety and core values across regional operations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable EHS regulations and client requirements.
• Develop and implement EHS policies, safe work practices, training programs, and drug-testing procedures.
• Provide direction, mentoring, and training to EHS personnel.
• Partner with PMs and Regional Managers to set EHS goals and safety action plans.
• Lead accident investigations with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Review and approve site EHS plans, qualifications, and safety provisions.
• Conduct audits and support regulatory research and DOT compliance activities.
• Participate in pre-job planning and support storm restoration travel.

As Regional EHS Manager, you will influence safety performance across major transmission, distribution, and substation projects while partnering with operations leaders and EHS professionals.

Responsibilities:

• Champion the company’s commitment to safety, ethical conduct, and core values across regional operations.
• Ensure compliance with company, client, state, and federal EHS regulations and requirements.
• Develop and implement EHS policies, safe work practices, training programs, and drug-testing procedures.
• Provide technical and administrative direction, mentoring, training, and performance support to EHS personnel.
• Partner with Project Managers and Regional Managers to establish EHS goals and written safety action plans.
• Lead and support accident and incident investigations, applying root-cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Review and approve site-specific EHS plans, project documentation, pre-qualifications, and contract safety provisions.
• Conduct facility, work-area, and environmental compliance audits while supporting regulatory research and DOT compliance activities.
• Participate in pre-job planning, maintain project accountability programs, and support storm restoration work requiring overnight travel.

Must-Have Skills:

• At least 10 years of combined education and EHS experience, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 5 years of EHS experience.
• Demonstrated experience in electric utility construction, including transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements, EHS compliance, incident investigation, and corrective action processes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively at all organizational levels and interact professionally with clients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS documentation, reporting, and data collection.
• Ability to travel monthly to company facilities and project sites, including extended overnight travel for storm restoration work.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a security background check.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Professional certification such as CUSP or CHST.
• OSHA 500 training or equivalent advanced safety training.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED training.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation compliance requirements.
• Experience developing client-specific pre-qualifications, safety plans, and bid proposal provisions.
• Experience mentoring EHS Coordinators and leading cross-functional safety initiatives.
• Background conducting environmental compliance inspections and regulatory research.
