Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Safety Manager for a fully integrated AEC firm in the Chicagoland area. You will develop and lead company-wide safety programs, partner with project teams to implement site-specific plans, and champion a proactive safety culture from design through construction.

This role requires 5+ years in construction safety, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR/AED, and a strong track record implementing safety initiatives using Procore and other safety tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of construction safety experience, preferably within a commercial environment.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and industry best practices.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
• CHST, CSP, or other relevant safety certification preferred.
• Experience developing and implementing site-specific safety plans and safety programs.
• Experience conducting jobsite inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, and safety training.
• Proficiency with safety management software and construction tech platforms such as Procore.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey safety requirements to all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to address immediate safety concerns while maintaining momentum.
• Ability to build strong relationships with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and leadership.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and multi-project management.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to promote accountability.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide construction safety programs and initiatives.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop site-specific safety plans, emergency procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead as a safety champion promoting a proactive culture centered on risk prevention and continuous improvement.
• Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and assessments to identify hazards and non-compliance.
• Monitor safety metrics and KPIs, providing recommendations to senior leadership.
• Stay current on OSHA regulations, industry standards, and emerging safety technologies.
• Conduct safety orientations and ongoing training on topics like fall protection, scaffolding, confined spaces.
• Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain OSHA documentation including OSHA 300 logs and other safety records.
• Partner with project managers and leaders to ensure safety requirements are understood and enforced.
• Serve as a point of contact for insurance carriers, regulators, OSHA representatives, and other stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety processes without disrupting project schedules.
• Utilize safety management software to document inspections, track incidents, and report performance.
