Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. is seeking a Safety & Environmental Compliance professional to develop and maintain a comprehensive program for a manufacturing plant in Iowa. You will reduce accidents, standardize safety practices, and manage corrective actions across the site.

You will perform hazard analyses, build training, implement prevention processes, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations. Experience in metal forming machinery and lock-out/tag-out is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety and Health or related field.
• 3–5 years in safety management in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, state and local regs.
• Understanding of machine guarding and lock-out/tag-out.

Job description

Working closely with plant supervisors, human resources, and corporate leadership, will develop and maintain a comprehensive Safety and Environmental Compliance program. You will be responsible for reducing plant accidents, overseeing the standardization of safety practices, and managing corrective action.

• Perform or coordinate job hazard analyses/job safety analyses for manufacturing operations.


• Develop an employee training program focused on safety.


• Implement accident prevention and injury prevention processes and procedures.


• Maintain a comprehensive safety program, appropriate for a manufacturing plant, including emergency preparedness.


• Participate in safety audits.


• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.


• Maintain employee injury records.

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree in Environmental Safety and Health, Engineering, or similar required.


• At least 3-5 years’ experience working in a safety management position in a manufacturing environment.


• Should have broad knowledge about OSHA, EPA, and state and local safety and environmental requirements.


• Should know about metal forming and shaping machinery, with an understanding of machine guarding, electrical safety, and lock-out/tag-out.
