Job summary

Balchem is seeking an experienced EH&S leader to provide direct safety support and leadership at the Verona, MO site. You will plan, implement, and evaluate site safety programs to protect employees, facilities and equipment, while ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.

You will coach site management, drive risk mitigation, coordinate trainings, and lead audits and reporting across Balchem sites, contributing to a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an EH&S-related science or engineering field.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with emphasis on EH&S program management.
• Experience working in a PSM-regulated facility is required.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 10%.
• Demonstrated people management and team-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects/programs simultaneously.
• Strong communication, organization, and prioritization abilities.
• Professional certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct safety support and leadership to all functional teams at the Verona, MO location.

• Ensure safe work conditions and practices meet applicable safety regulations and company policies.
• Coach site management and personnel on recognizing, eliminating, and controlling occupational hazards and risks.
• Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of site EH&S programs and policies.
• Mitigate workplace risks and monitor processes and recordkeeping systems for regulatory compliance.
• Support training, certification, and environmental health and safety objectives.
• Perform periodic safety inspections and compliance audits.
• Coordinate with the corporate EH&S team on group-wide programs and Balchem-wide practices.
• Assist with audits of other Balchem sites occasionally.
• Coordinate and administer EH&S-related training activities.
• Investigate accidents and incidents and recommend changes to work practices or equipment.
• Evaluate and investigate exposure to noise, particulates, gases, and fumes.
• Prepare safety and compliance reports for management and outside organizations.
• Perform other duties supporting the overall position objective and EH&S culture.

Requirements
